Corporate Cup Challenge

A corporate race series returns this summer with a new, philanthropic twist and an additional run date.

The Westchester 5K Corporate Cup is a series of three evening races on Thursday, July 24 and August 13 at the SUNY Purchase campus that will benefit the Westchester County Continuum of Care for the Homeless, a public-private partnership that coordinates services for the homeless.

Last year's two races attracted about 50 participants to each event, representing seven corporations. This year the organizers aim to triple the number of participating corporations with the goal of reaching the 300 to 400 runners the event drew before a 10-year hiatus.

"What every corporation needs is an internal champion to get teams organized and running," said Dorian Drake International President Edward Dorian, who is helping to promote the events.

The races were conceived as a fun, after-work team-building event for local corporations with networking opportunities, though they are open to all runners.

Event sponsors include Heritage Realty Services, O'Connor Davies, Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management, Citibank, HOP Energy and Tommie Copper.

The series costs $25 per racer for one race, $45 for two races and $65 for three. Register at www.corporatecupraces.org.
